System Requirements for Rhino 5
Rhino runs on ordinary Windows and Mac desktop and laptop computers with:
Rhino 5 for Windows
Hardware
- 8 GB memory (RAM) or more is recommended.
- Internet connection for installation and validation.
- 600 MB disk space.
- OpenGL 2 capable video card recommended.
- No more than 63 CPU Cores.
- Multiple-button mouse with scroll wheel is recommended.
- The SpaceNavigator is supported.
- Apple hardware is supported with Bootcamp.
Operating Systems
- Windows 10, 8.1
Unsupported Operating Systems
- Windows 11 (Rhino 5 was written before Windows 11 was released, and is not supported. Please use Rhino 7 instead.)
Previously Supported Operating Systems
Rhino 5 ran on these, but they are no longer supported by Microsoft, so McNeel cannot support Rhino running on them.
- Windows 8, 7, Vista, Windows XP (32-bit only) Service Pack 3
NOTE: Both 32- and 64-bit versions are installed on 64-bit Windows systems.
Rhino 5 for Mac
Hardware
- Apple Mac (Intel only. Apple Silicon is not supported.)
- 8 GB memory (RAM) or more is recommended.
- 2 GB disk space.
- NVIDIA or AMD graphics processor is recommended.
- Multiple-button mouse with scroll wheel is recommended.
- The SpaceNavigator and SpaceMouse Wireless are supported.
- Digitizers (Faro, Microscribe) are NOT SUPPORTED.

- macOS 10.15 (Catalina) and newer
Recommended Operating Systems
- macOS 10.14.6 (Mojave)
- macOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra)

- macOS 10.12.6 (Sierra)
- OS X 10.11.6 (El Capitan) or better is required for Grasshopper for Mac beta
